Signed and Dated: A visit to our workshop takes you back to an era when careful craftsmanship created things of enduring value, to a time when it was still possible to have rapport with highly skilled local craftspeople and to actually watch things being made. We welcome visitors to the workshop to experience firsthand our craftsmanship from start to finish, when each piece is dated and personally signed by marking the initials of master welder and finisher - testaments to flawless workmanship and the elevation of furniture to rare art through exceptional skill. Our craftspeople continue the tradition of "bench built" furniture, a revered practice that has almost disappeared. Each piece of McKinnon and Harris furniture is crafted on a craftsperson’s own workbench, an exacting process far removed from a machine based assembly line. From beginning to end at least 10 craftspeople work on each piece, for a total of about 40 hours, the quality of work at each step is guaranteed by each individual craftsperson.
