This fall several of our artisans were invited just a few blocks down the street to exhibit their incredible talents at the Craft + Design Show hosted by our neighbor the Science Museum of Virginia. This juried show, organized by the Visual Arts Center, brings more than 60 of the nation’s preeminent artisans together, and provides guests with an unparalleled opportunity to hear their stories, be inspired by their talent, and shop for unique artwork.
Richmond, an art city and our hometown, has always been a welcoming locale for McKinnon and Harris, a family owned company of artisans with creative minds passionate about their craft, and the creative environment in which art is fostered. Everyday in the workshop, our dedicated craftspeople pour their energy and ingenuity into crafting our exceptional furniture. But their passion and talents don’t stop there! Their creative spirit extends past the workday as afterhours they pursue their own amazing artistic endeavors. In the workshop we have in our midst formally trained artists -- sculptors, painters, designers, carpenters, many with an art degree from renown Virginia Commonwealth University. Our very own Meredith Harriss, Director of Client Logistics and possessor of a fabulous eye for the beautiful, curated the McKinnon and Harris artwork, a testament to their creative geniuis and an ode to the power of hand craftsmanship, a company pillar. We were thrilled that they shared their many remarkable talents at such a prestigious show!
